Our Fees

Psychiatrists

All our affiliated psychiatrists charge the same fees.

Adult ADHD assessment (3 hours) – £900 fixed fee. Includes a full developmental history and structured clinical interview for the diagnosis of adult ADHD (DIVA-5), and any prescriptions resulting from the assessment. A full report will be provided to you and your GP. You should allow 3.5 hours for this assessment in case we overrun and to allow for a short break halfway.

Adult ADHD assessment and stimulant titration bundle – £1200 fixed fee. Includes a full ADHD assessment and 3 review appointments with a consultant psychiatrist. If you are not diagnosed with ADHD or do not require medication, you will only pay for the ADHD assessment (£900) and the rest of the money will be refunded. If you are titrated in less than 3 sessions, your 6-12 months review sessions will be free until the 3 sessions in the bundle are used.

PTSD and general adult psychiatry assessments for diagnosis and treatment (1.5 hours) – £450 fixed fee. Includes a full developmental history and clinical interview, and any prescriptions resulting from the assessment. A full report will be provided to you and your GP. You should allow 2 hours for this assessment in case we overrun.

Referral fees – max £50. Please note that if you are referred by another provider and they charge us a referral fee, this will be added to your fee. We will make you aware of any referral fees in advance for complete transparency in our fees before you commit to an appointment. We do not accept referrals from providers who charge more than £50.

Review appointments with a consultant psychiatrist (30 mins) – £150. Includes a review of treatment needs, prescriptions resulting from the review and administration of shared-care agreements with the GP as required. A full report will be provided to you and your GP. You should allow 45 minutes for these reviews in case we overrun.

Transfer of care – £450 (1.5 hours). If you have already had an ADHD assessment, or are already on ADHD medication or other psychiatric treatment, you may wish to transfer your care to us for reasons of your own. To avoid the full cost of a new assessment, you must be able to provide all your past assessment reports and follow-up reports. If we are satisfied with the robustness of these reports, we will schedule a 1.5-hour appointment with you to familiarise ourselves with your case, make sure there are no unaddressed issues. The fee includes any prescriptions needed and establishing shared-care arrangements with your GP where appropriate/possible. If we are not satisfied with the robustness of the assessments/reports, they are not available, or the best practice have not been followed in your assessment and treatment, then we will need to do a full assessment as above and charge the full cost. We will let you know before you commit to any appointment/payment whether we can do it for the reduced price.

Prescription fees – £35 (for weekday deliveries ) or £40 (for Saturday deliveries): Routine prescriptions issued as part of assessments and review appointments are free of charge. Where we are prescribing for you on a monthly basis instead of your GP (mostly for stimulant medication), this charge applies. It includes a reminder service 2 weeks before our records show your medication is likely to run out so you can request a repeat prescription in plenty of time.

Terms of payment. Appointment fees must be paid after each assessment/consultation/prescription request and clinicians will not commence the preparation of reports or prescriptions until the account is settled. Clinicians will also not start any agreed actions on the care plan unless they are urgent for your safety or that of others.

Cancellation policy (applies to all appointments with all clinicians where the service is provided directly by Lichfield Psychiatric chambers). A cancellation/non-attendance fee is charged if appointments are not cancelled with a full three working days’ notice or not attended, and will amount to 25% of the appointment fee. Further appointments will not be offered until the cancellation/non-attendance fees are settled. Lichfield Psychiatric Chambers may, solely at their discretion, wave the cancellation fee but will only do so in exceptional circumstances. If you are more than 10 minutes late for any appointment, the appointment will be cancelled and a cancellation fee charged.

You will either be billed by us or the independent clinician providing the service to you as this is also a referral hub for independently practising clinicians. You will be charged the fees listed here though or on the websites of clinicians who have this facility.

FEE STRUCTURE – Dr Wilson

Psychology assessment and formulation
Conducted over 3 x 1hr appointments     |           £500
Includes clinical interview and administration of psychometrics, some of which I may ask you to complete and return to me via email.  A formulation report (not for medico-legal purposes) will provide detailed information to help you develop insight into the cause, development and maintenance of the mental health difficulty/ies you are experiencing.  This includes integrating links between your developmental history, psychological theory and the literature.  For more information on formulation skills specific to Clinical Psychologists, please see HCPC standards of proficiency section 13.12-13.40.  The three appointments are comprised of 2 x assessment sessions and 1 x formulation feedback session/therapy recommendations.

Following assessment and a discussion of your options for psychological therapy, we will develop a care plan, incorporating your goals.  I will provide you with an estimate of how many sessions we will need to use, along with the recommended therapeutic approach(es).
*Please note that any EMDR sessions can last up to 70/80 minutes – cost remains £135.

ADHD assessment and treatment cost example

After your diagnosis you were started on Lisdexamfetamine and stabilised on 70mg after 3 review appointments:

ADHD assessment = £900

3 review appointments @ £150 each = £450

One month on Lisdexamfetamine 30mg = ~£90

One month on Lisdexamfetamine 50mg = ~£105

One month on Lisdexamfetamine 70mg = ~£125

Total = ~£1670

Hopefully your GP will then agree to a shared-care agreement with us and that means you will only need to pay the standard NHS prescription charge for your medications and £150 for a medication review every 6-12 months. We normally see you 6 months after the stabilisation period and then annually if all is well. If your GP does not agree to this, you will need to pay the full price of your medication every month, as well as our £25 prescription fee. You will also have to attend for a review every 6-12 months at £150 each.

Example medication prices (for private patients)

The prices provided here serve only as a rough guide. The prices can vary significantly between wholesalers and pharmacies. Please get a definitive quote from your designated pharmacy to help you decide on which medication best suits your budget.

Private patients have to pay the full price for their medications and NHS exemptions and pre-paid prescriptions do not apply. Once your GP prescribes the medication for you on a shared-care agreement normal NHS costs applies which are much less.

Shared care agreements (SCA) are agreements where your GP continues to prescribe medication under the supervision of a specialist once the specialist has stabilised you on the medication. Until you are stabilised, the specialist has to prescribe the medication. This applies to most ADHD medications. Your GP is not obliged to agree to an SCA with us, but currently most GPs are content to do so. It is, unfortunately, becoming less common for GPs to agree to this with private providers. It normally takes 2-6 months to stabilise an ADHD medication regimen depending on your response and whether we need to change your drug for some reason. If you GP declines to enter into an SCA with us, you would be obliged to continue to pay the full price for the medication as well as a monthly prescription fee from us.
